Project Story
To achieve a sustainable hair salon which reflects their personal responsibility towards the environment, and as well to house the Davines hair care products with the same characteristics, the partners of ION approached Ecosystems in order to design and build custom sustainable furniture and built in storage systems. Ecosystems, known by its strong approach of combining resources and strategies on its designs, approached the situation not only under these guidelines, but also through a physical intervention on the space that poetically mimics Mother Nature.

Materials and Finishes
Ecosystems material selection includes the use of FSC certified wood, natural based coating finishes, LED and compact fluorescent lighting, no VOC water base paints and the optimizations of exposed existing natural materials on site. Balancing a strict timeline against the availability of sustainable resources, ION Salon was achieved under conscious and responsible guidelines to generate what could be considered to become the first “Eco-Salon” in NYC.
